It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time. -Chet Atkins
The Original Jomo band started with a line up consisting of two guitars, bass, keyboard, and drums. We were into playing Allman Bros. and similar music. We did a few original tunes that the keyboard player wrote. All of our amplifiers were borrowed as we were all living far from our homelands. The name "Jomo" comes from the bathroom. All of the porcelain fixtures in our domicile were made by the German company "Jomo" and the name was prominently displayed in every porcelain palace. I guess the band might have been named "American Standard" if it had been another place/time. The Original Jomo band was formed in 1973 and lasted to the summer of '74. The following year ('74-'75) the band changed bass players, added an acoustic guitar and some chick singers. We dropped "Original" from the name and simply called it "The Jomo Band".
