Not everyone is going to like what I do, and that's something I can accept;  if everyone liked what I did, I probably wouldn't be playing anything of depth.     -Joshua Redman

The Barn MP3 collection.  Listen at your own risk!

The barn is my musical playground. A place where ideas are conceived, developed, tested, and sometimes die. Many of these recordings were made simply to remember certain musical notions that popped into my head at one time or another. There are only so many available brain cells. These ideas would be soon forgotten if they were not recorded. A few of the tunes are covers.

Most of the recordings were made in one or two evenings. Many are "first take". Spending more time than that tends to yield diminishing returns. Because the the equipment is relatively low tech, and guitar is really the only instrument that I'm any good at, there are inherent limitations.

All of these recordings were made using a guitar, some outboard effects, and a computer. Most of the other instruments were generated in the world of MIDI (a few are "real" bass). MIDI is a wonderful tool if you are proficient on keyboards. I am not, so there's lots of quantizing and editing after any keyboard parts are tracked. The only keyboard used was an el-cheapo Casio that cost less than $50 new (stand included). So the audio was generated using either the Casio, or the (motherboard integrated) soundcard/MIDI synth in a PC.

Update:  I did finally break down and get a used Roland JV-1010 module which sounds mo better.
